Liszt's works published in the present edition represent particularly valuable items of the motet literature of Romanticism. Nevertheless, most of them are little known. L'Éternel est son nom, the earliest composition of this selection, was written in about 1840 and appeared here for the first time in print. Salve Regina, the latest motet dating from 1885 was printed, together with four others, only once and even then for a restricted circle. The aim of the present edition is to make these works easily accessible for the music practice. Consequently, the aspects of performance have been taken into consideration, in addition to the authenticity of the music text.
