A gyűjtemény szerzői a kora-barokk legkiválóbb itáliai hangszeres komponistái: Salamone Rossi, Biagio Marini, Dario Castello, Giovanni Battista Fontana és a legnagyobb, Girolamo Frescobaldi. Az általuk képviselt izgalmas, különleges zenei stílus magyar kiadásban eddig kevésbé volt hozzáférhető, így a gyűjtemény hézagpótló értékű mind a hegedűsök, mind a furulyások számára - a 17. században ugyanis elsősorban ezen a két hangszeren (s a ma már elfeledett cinken vagy kornetten) játszották a benne szereplő műveket.
