The journey of musical works from author to performer
The task of the music publisher is to put manuscripts (be they paper or computerised) into a form that is legible, inspiring, and easy to use for performers; and to ensure the promotion, distribution, and legal use of the works.
With 75 years of experience behind us, we do this honourable work with consideration, commitment, and enthusiasm.
We thank the composers and music teachers who entrust their works to us.
Csemiczky, Miklós
(Photo: Zoltán Szabó)Miklós Csemiczky (Budapest, 16 March 1954 – Budapest, 20 October 2025) was a distinguished Hungarian composer and teacher.
His works were characterized by a strong commitment to religion and to traditional musical forms and techniques. His close friendship with György Selmeczi, György Orbán, and János Vajda, together with the shared artistic principles that shaped their work, gave rise to the group known in the musical press as “The Four,” which became an important presence in late twentieth-century Hungarian music.
He began his career as a composer at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music, where he studied with Miklós Kocsár, and later continued his studies with Rezső Sugár and Emil Petrovics at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. In 1982 he joined Zeneműkiadó as an editor, and from that year until 2017 he taught orchestration, composition, music theory, counterpoint, solfège, score reading, and related subjects at the composition department of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, at the conducting department of the Budapest Teacher Training Institute of the Academy, at the Béla Bartók Institute of Music of the University of Miskolc, and at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music in Budapest.
His work has been recognized with the Ferenc Erkel Prize, the Bartók–Pásztory Award, and the title Meritorious Artist of Hungary.
