''Souvenir de Chine was written in 2026 as a newly commissioned work for the Guangzhou International Flute Competition. The idea was to compose a piece that incorporates Chinese musical elements, features extended techniques, explores the new sonic world of the flute, and serves as a suitable test of the candidates’ affinity for contemporary music. I wanted to create a work that, despite its challenges, remains accessible - both musically and technically - for talented young flutists even with limited experience in avant-garde music.''
