This is one of hundreds of songs composed by Queen Lili'uokalani, last of the ruling monarchs of the Hawaiian Kingdom. This song demonstrates her poetic skills in which romantic love, love of nature and love of the land arehappily entwined. This setting was written for the popular Pacific Rim Choral Festival which takes place in Hawaii each summer.
