The movements in this suite were origi-nally taken from my animal opera The English Cat but have undergone a series of mutations in the process of adaptation, their shape has changed and the melody and harmonies have altered - mainly, in order to accommodate the specific tonal qualities and possibilities of the guitar duet.'
