In a self-inflicted narcotic haze, a lovesick musician is overcome by extraordinary bizarre visions of his beloved, expressed in musical imagery. Berlioz drew upon his own obsessive infatuation with actress Harriet Smithson. This work appears in full score with original instrumentation and bar numbered movements.
