Steiner Ferenc, Ernő Völgyi, and György Zilcz were members of a legendary generation of brass players who experimented with and further developed the possibilities of instrumental technique, applying them not only in études but also in expressive performance pieces. Together, they wrote this trombone tutor for beginners, illustrated with photographs, which contains excellent position charts for every key. A unique feature is that they use folk songs to practice various rhythms, which not only helps students to learn the technical elements but also conveys cultural value. Additionally, children are more likely to enjoy practicing the lovely melodies. Since these are typically pentatonic tunes, they can be played on the trombone after mastering two or three positions, making them very suitable for beginners.
