Schumann, Robert: Three Romances
for oboe or flute and piano
Robert Schumann’s Three Romances were composed in December 1849 for oboe and piano and intended as a Christmas gift for his wife, Clara. The pieces are lyrical, intimate in scale and moderate in technical demands, marked by an absence of virtuosic display. Though originally written for oboe, they have been frequently adapted for other instruments, including flute, violin, clarinet, and cello.
