How could the sould not take flight, composed by Jonathan Harvey and sets the words of a translated poem by Jalal Al-Din Rumito to music, is arranged for an unaccompanied double mixed voices choir (SSAATTBB), with notations for the addition of bells, whistles and tam-tam if desired.
The piece was first performed by the National Youth Choir of Great Britain in Fiji on 23 July 1996.
