Imre Mező (b. 1932) composed several popular works for children and young people studying music. His set of easy variations ''Miss Melody's Wardrobe,'' originally for piano solo (Z. 15119), has now appeared in a piano duet arrangement. The basic structure has not changed: the set is based on a single Hungarian folk song, demonstrating the many ways of presenting and arranging the same musical material even if the melody itself remains unchanged. The variations are grouped by key and, within each chapter, are placed in order of difficulty. The set has been published in two volumes. Vol. 1 contains pieces up to three key signatures, and vol. 2 pieces with four or more key signatures. In the last 15 variations, the theme is coupled with another folk song. This publication is not only recommended to beginners or more advanced pupils undergoing traditional musical tuition, but also to those interested in the secrets of composition and musical structures.
