Wallingford Riegger's New Dance, composed 1935, was originally the third section of Trilogy, a large dance piece commissioned by Doris Humphrey for the renowned Humphrey-Weidman Dance Company. Parts Iand II were entitled 'Theatre Piece' (later designated Op.19) and 'With My Red Fires' (Op.20).
