The name of Pál Kadosa, the piano teacher, was known all over the world through his internationally renowed students Zoltán Kocsis, Dezső Ránki, András Schiff.

But even in his homeland it is not widely known what a rich and uniquely creative oeuvre he left behind. He started achieving international success through his works as early as the 1930s, and due to his leading role in Hungarian musical life after 1945, almost all his work was published. This artistic career, however, was also a typical product of 20th century Hungarian history: the tragic life story of an artist saturated with the ideals of of renewal and the spirit of politics.
