In his second string quartet the composer Harald Weiss counters our fast-moving time with a work on silence and concentration. Rubatos, fermatas and little caesuras are added to simple note values - like lava, the music slowly flows into the room. Both the audience and the musicians have time to listen to the reverberation of the sounds. Engulfed in an aura of silence and reverberation, tone colour and dynamics get new possibilities of development, melodies condense into harmonies, the work changes between audible and inaudible worlds. The sound of the strings is complemented by two additional CDs which help to intensify the three-dimensional sound effects.
