Joseph Haydn composed the six sonatas for violin and viola in 1769 and 1773. He himself entered them in the catalog of works under the name Solo per il Violino mit Begleitung einer Viola. The violin is treated as a soloist here, with the viola taking on the accompanying function. The occasion for these compositions is not yet known. Haydn may have composed the sonatas for his own use or for the first violinist of the court orchestra, Luigi Tomasini. This is the second volume, which comprises sonatas 4-6 . This edition was provided with cadenzas
