Clifton Williams' final legacy for band, Songs of Heritage, was outlined in score form upon his demise in 1976. Conceived as a tribute to the composers and musicians among our forebears, the composition is indigenous of the fifeand drum corps, the cakewalk, the shuffle dance, and the ballads of Stephen Foster. In a contemporary band idiom, it also reflects the present day trends in America's musical life.
