Edited by László Dobszay, this volume presents a selection from songbooks compiled around the turn of the seventeenth century, featuring works by the leading English composers of the late Elizabethan era. The collection consists primarily of arrangements of songs by Dowland and Robert Jones. Thanks to the edition's flexible scoring, the pieces may be performed with piano or other keyboard accompaniment, as well as with chamber ensemble or string orchestra. The nine works are suitable for advanced beginner chamber musicians.
