Joseph Haydn composed a large number of songs that were pushed somewhat into the background in contrast to his other works, but are nevertheless of the highest quality. This volume contains all his verifiably authentic songs for voice and piano. Alongside his larger collections of German Lieder and English canzonettas, this volume also offers famous individual pieces such as ''Gott, erhalte Franz den Kaiser!'', which later featured in many arrangements. For this Urtext edition, based on the Haydn Complete Edition, the Haydn scholar Marianne Helms was able to include newly discovered sources, so that the musical text here reflects the current state of research.
