Nusch-Nuschi (the Mumble Wumble) is one of three one-act operas with provocative librettos by the young Hindemith which caused outrage, the other two are ''Saint Susanna'' and ''The murderer who brings hope to women''. In the case of ''Nusch-Nuschi'', further indignation was caused by the inclusion at a suggestive point of a quotation from Wagner's ''Tristan''. In this volume of the complete works the composition is now available for purchase for the first time.
