This charming, short duo in two movements will delight flautists: Neither flute part is technically very demanding and it is therefore well-suited as easy teaching material. The dedication ''for friend Degenharth'' (a lawyer amongst Beethoven's close circle of friends) leaves open whether it was commissioned or a gift. The work was not published during Beethoven's lifetime, but the autograph has survived.
