'Danza de Jalisco'' was commissioned by the Festival Foundation for the ''Festival of Two Worlds '' at Spoleto, Italy. It was first performed there in July 1959, in the original version for chamber orchestra. The present arrangement for two pianos was prepared by the composer in 1963.
