This volume contains three fragments from different creative periods in Schoenberg's life as a composer: the ''Serenade'' in D major for small orchestra (1896), the symphonic poem ''Death of Spring'' based on a poem by Nikolaus Lenau (1898) and a work written almost 50 years later with the title ''Fanfare for a Bowl Concert on motifs of the Gurrelieder'' for brass instruments and percussion (1945). The ''Serenade'' in D major and ''Death of Spring'' are published here for the first time.
