This school is designed for three years of study and is intended for students who have no prior training. The first 18 exercises give the student the opportunity to master the techniques of extracting sound, learn the application in the middle register, and get acquainted with the techniques of performing separate and connected sounds. These exercises are immediately followed by excerpts from classical music literature and small finished works in transposition for flute and piano, folk songs from the collections of Rimsky-Korsakov, Lyadov and Balakirev and works by Russian/Soviet composers.
