The Little Negro is one of Claude Debussy's best-known piano pieces, composed in 1909 for the piano method of French pianist and composer Théodore Lack. Debussy frequently used exotic musical effects in his works, and the first theme of The Little Negro reflects the ragtime style popular at the time. This lively and characterful little piece became so popular over time that it was later published separately and arranged for various instruments. This edition features an adaptation by Olivér Nagy, a Hungarian composer known for his textbook on score-playing, making Debussy's popular piece accessible to flutists and clarinetists.
