Peregi Verbunk by Leó Weiner is a vibrant piece inspired by the Hungarian verbunkos tradition, known for its expressive melodies, with strong connections to the Gypsy performance style. Originally written for piano, it was arranged for clarinet and piano in 1951, featuring virtuosic themes and a dramatic cadenza. The work highlights the clarinet’s role in Hungarian folk-inspired concert music through the stylistically ornamented dances.
