Gárdonyi's Fantasy - unusually within the work of the composer, who generally drew on the Protestant church-music tradition - is based on the Gregorian melody of Victimae paschali laudes. Of particular significance within the composer's oeuvre, the organ work takes its structure from a programmatic musical adaptation of the text of the Easter sequence.
The publication, which marks the 120th anniversary of Zoltán Gárdonyi's birth and the 40th anniversary of his passing, contains a reproduction of the composer's manuscript.
