In 2001 the musical world commemorates the 100th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi's death. Verdi has long been synonymous with Italian Opera in the popular conscience, not just since the concerts of the 'Three Tenors'. Every year thousands of people make the pilgrimage to the arena in Verona to enjoy the music, the brilliant voices and the lavish productions.
