The title of Julian Anderson’s first piece for Guitar refers to a painting by Joan Miró in which the dominant element is a vivid blue. Fragments of objects can be detected: Guitar strings, the orange of a Catalanbarretina, a smoking pipe. It is the elemental quality of the painting that Anderson was drawn to in writing Catalan Peasant With Guitar.
