Korchmar, Grigory Ovshievich: IIn the World of Edvard Grieg. Concert-phantasia for Piano and orchestra. After the sketches of the Second Piano Concert
The Concerto-phantasia for piano and orchestra ''In the Worl d of Edvard Grieg'' is the composition of three movements, performed attacca. All Grieg’s drafts are inculcated here. All thematic materials belong to Edvard Grieg.
The main idea of the composition was the exposition of different viewpoints to Grieg’s Concerto drafts. Rather free revision absorbing modern music expressive means (complicated harmony and rhythmic, technique of clusters and collages, special orchestra effects, among which there is a significant function of percussions etc), or unmasking of the most typical Grieg’s features, i. e. making stylistic model of his music.
Two beginning laconic movements are the kind of a prologue to the evolving finale.
The Concerto-Phantasia ''In the World of Edvard Grieg'' was performed for the first time on May 16, 2004 in the Bolshoy St.Petersburg Philharmonic Hall by the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra (conductor - Algirdas Paulavicius, soloist - Igor Uryash).
