Anatoly Vladimirovich Kalvarsky (born in 1934) - the Petersburgian composer, graduate of the Music College at the Petersburg State Conservatoire, where he studied piano and composition at Galina Ustvolskaya. That was jazz itself to have got under the composer's skin already since his green years. The first compositions in jazz style appeared in 1955, while the 1956 was the start of his piano performing experience together with the jazz band. Already in 1960 Kalvarsky conducted several jazz bands at once. Among them were the Leningrad Jazz Orchestra ''Metronome'', State Azerbaijan Jazz Orchestra, where he worked for many years, winning laureateship at many jazz festivals.
