Vorobyov, Igor: Concerto for Contrabass and Orchestra
Piano score and part
The Concerto for contrabass and orchestra refers to 2004. As the contrabass repertoire is rather scant, Igor Vorobyov's Concerto is an attempt to fill in the gaps of this area by means of this original virtuoso composition able to match with the cello programme.
The composition is dedicated to Alexander Alekseyevich Shilo, teacher and interpreter, assistant professor of the St.Petersburg Conservatoire, having enjoyed popularity as the soloist-contrabassist. The premi? re took place on October 3, 2005 at the Assembly Hall of the Russian State Hertsen University. The Concerto for contrabass and orchestra was represented by the Sta te orchestra ''Classics'' (art director - A. Kantorov) conducted by Roman Leontyev. While the solo part was performed by Alexander Shilo.
