Prokofiev, Sergei: Concerto No.2 for Piano and orchestra. Op. 16. Transcription for two Pianos by the author
The Concerto No. 2 for piano and orchestra G minor, op. 16, was created by the young composer during his years of studying at the Petersburg Conservatoire (it was started in 1912 and completed in 1913). It reveals Prokofiev's inventive harmonic structure, ample instrumental hints.
The premiere of the concert stopped the show during Prokofiev's youth. Meanwhile, turbulent discussions recalled by this performance made for the consolidation of the beginning composer's popularity.
The second edition was realized by the composer in 1923.
