The genre of symphony may be called the sphere of paramount importance in Ludwig van Beethoven’s (1770-1827) creation. Serov characterized the Symphony No.7 as ''the heroic idyll'', which sounds rather paradoxal.
The premiere took place on December 8, 1813. Since that the Seventh has been the flavour of the month even among the great master’s works.
