Beethoven, Ludwig van: Symphony No.7. Pocket score.
The genre of symphony may be called the sphere of paramount importance in Ludwig van Beethoven’s (1770-1827) creation. The nine symphonies seem to embrace all the periods of the composer’s spiritual life. It’s quite evident to reveal Beethoven’s aesthetic finds and achievements in symphonic genre having influenced all the European musical tradition. Beethoven’s powerful energy determined his position amongst the greatest world masters.
The Symphony No.7 ? major, op. 92 refers to 1812. That was the period of ''mature late Beethoven''. Hence the bunch of diverse emotions, ideas and feelings, connected by optimistic, heroic outlook (including also the tragical slow movement). The Russian music critic A. N. Serov characterized the Symphony No.7 as ''the heroic idyll'', which sounds rather paradoxal.
The premiere took place on December 8, 1813. Since that the Seventh has been the flavour of the month even among the great master’s works.
