The Sonata No 3 op. 23 F Sharp minor dates the period of 1897-1898, having been published by M. P. Belyayev in 1898. Yevgeniy Gunst, Skriabin's friend and researcher described the Third Sonata as the culmination of his creation.
There exists the programme to this Sonata, which is sometimes called the author's one. Nowadays it was discovered that this programme belongs to Tatiana Schkoozer, composer's second wife. However, the French text appeared long time after the Sonata's coming into being.
The Sonata's premiere took place in Moscow on November 23, 1900. Vsevolod Buyukli performed it for the first time.
