Ferencz Liszt always favoured poetry in music, it was he who invented the symphonic poem. Most of his works, including etudes, are programme music. Whether obvious or hidden, the programme is always there, together with discernible images. The composer also reveals his ideas in the titles and the detailed instructions to the performer. ''3 Etudes de Concert'' (c.1848) are: (1) ? Iamento, (2) La laggierezza, (3) Un sospiro. ''Gnomen-Reigen'' from ''2 Etudes de Concert'' was written in 1862 or 1863. ''La Campanella'' is a part of ''Grandes Etudes d'apres les Caprices de Paganini.'' It was written in 1851 and was dedicated to Clara Schumann.
