Vladimir Korovitsyn (b. 1956) graduated from Leningrad Conservatory, he is the member of the Union of Russian Composers, the prize-winner of international Melody Competition (Stockholm, 1992) and of the competition ''Spring of Romance'' (St. Petersburg, 2000). Korovitsyn is the author of a number of collections issued by different publishers. The publishing house '' Kompositor'' (St. Petersburg) issued the following collections: ''Two Pieces for Violin and Piano'' (2004), ''Pieces for Flute and Piano'' (2005), ''Romances on Poetry of Silver Age'' (2006). For children V. Korovitsyn published a collection of songs ''Enjoy the Sun'' (Yaroslavl, ''Academia razvitiya'', 2006) and ''Children's Album'' for piano (Rostov-on-Don, ''Fenix'', 2007). The composer's arrangements were issued by the publishing house ''Musyka'' (Moscow) and in the magazine ''Musykalnaya zhisn''. Korovitsyn's piano compositions are presented in some musical readers and collections for teaching piano playing.

T he collection '' Musical Journey round West European Countries'' is a piano cycle written by the composer impressed by the trips to European countries, where he gave concerts. Creating his original music the author has kept the existing forms, intonation and tunes, rhythmic peculiarities and harmony, which are characteristic of one or another nation. Each piece has a short literary introduction, which acquaints with the images and creates the necessary mood for performing. These pieces will contribute to the students' acquaintance with the European music and help teachers to vary the repertoire for young pianists.
