Pleshak, Viktor: Sonatina for Flute and Piano
The distinguished music critic Mikhail Byalik marked the Sonatina (so as Tishchenko, he considered it was a true sonata), when it was presented at the Composers’ Union. Such features as stylistic independence and melodic gift were recognized in me, while I was discovered as a future opera composer. Although those decisions were not known to me then, my opera ''Tale of the Dead Princess and Seven Knights'' appeared just some years later, being on roll during 20 seasons in 6 theatres.
Nowadays the Sonatina got its second breath. It was thrice a month performed by capable young musicians Tatiana Rezetdinova (flute) and Ksenia Gavrilov a (piano) at prestigious concerts. One of them was held in memory of Boris Tishchenko, whom I dedicate my composition to.
