Popov, Alexander: Moira. For Piano, triangles and hand-bells
The composition, inspired by this enth rilling myth, abounds with all kinds of sonoristic piano effects, interlaced with triangles and bells. Spatial recalls pierce this strictly organized polyphonic structure depicting the dramaturgic programme. Every part corresponds to separate personage. Their names are signed inside the text. The whole composition resembles the unrestricted triple fugue, accounted with combined and divided exposition. Three themes are expounded simultaneously in its middle section. It was on November 19, 1955 at the Petersburg festival ''Sound Ways'', when the ''Moiras'' premiere took place. Subsequently the composition has been performed by the author himself so as by the pianist Olga Skorbyashchenskaya.
