Autokoncert, Schroeder halála [Schroder’s Death], Nárcisz és Echó [Narcissus and Echo], 12 duó, Etűdök gépzongorára, [Studies for MIDIPiano] Zwölf Streichquartette are all works that mark milestones in Hungarian music of the last forty years. At the same time they are important stages in a creative style that began from an experimental standpoint, and which exists today in a classically refined form. László Vidovszky (b. 1944) began his career in the 70s, working in the most radical and innovative surroundings of the Budapest New Music Studio. This monograph attempts to outline the changes and turns in a career which has received international recognition, and to highlight the inner connections built from many different elements, but which presents a coherent artistic whole.
