Duke Ellington's Come Sunday, arranged by Paul Murtha for solo Alto Saxophone with Concert Band.
Come Sunday was originally composed as part of Ellington'ssuiteBlack, Brown and Beige. After a disappointing critical response to its first performance in 1943, Ellington divided the three-part suite into six shorter sections, leaving in 'Come Sunday' and 'Work Song'. It isthisversion that he recorded for an album of the same title in 1958.
