William Schuman's setting of a poem by Genevieve Taggard takes as its theme the necessity of simple pleasures and the importance of each person. This version is for upper voices. The song is in a loose rondo form and the musicalternates between the main jerky, almost angry music and the smooth but still precise middle section with its growing self-belief.
