Albert Hay Malotte was an American pianist, organist, composer and educator. He is best remembered for his setting of The Lord's Prayer. Written in 1935, it was first recorded by the Baritone JohnCharles Thomas, and remained highly popular for use as a solo in churches and at weddings in the US for some decades. Recordings by singers and groups including Doris Day, Andrea Bocelli, Elvis Presley and Barbara Streisandfollowed.

The 'Lord's Prayer' is a venerated Christian prayer that, according to the New Testament, was taught by Jesus to his disciples. The song's melody is very similar to that of Schubert's 'Ave Maria'.
