From his famous Ancient Airs and Dances, 20th-century composer Ottorino Respighi used distinctive melodies from Renaissance composer Jean-Baptiste Besard in this second movement of the third suite. This marvelous adaptation for band retains the authenticity of the original in an attractive yet very playable and unique setting.
