Originating as a traditional Tyne River Shanty for the transport of coal, this sturdy tune will fit well in a program of folk music, with a steady rowing motion in the accompaniment and a dancelike melody that passes among the voice parts for textural interest. The SAB voicing is adapted from a previous a cappella edition.
