Haydn, Franz Joseph: Missa in Angustiis d-Moll Hob. XXII:11 'Nelson-Messe' (1798)
für 4 Solostimmen, Chor, Orchester und Orgel
piano score
Haydn wrote his Mass No. 3, also known as 'Missa in Angustiis,' and also as the 'Lord Nelson Mass,' during Austrian wartime turmoil in 1798.
Lord Nelson's name became associated with the Mass because of his victory against Napolean, the news of which coincided with the work's premier performance in September, 1798. Arranged for SATB and Piano.
