The first of these songs was commissioned by the 2003 Presteigne Festival, where it was given its premiere by Gillian Keith (soprano) and Simon Lepper (piano). The second and third were added later. The first integral performanceof the cycle was given at the 2006Festival, by Andrew Carwood (tenor) and Alex Soddy (piano), St. Andrew's Church Presteigne, 25 August 2006.
