For Piano Solo or Two Pianos, Four Hands Gould brought Wagner 's brilliant counterpoint to life with the help of recording technology by superimposing a second, supplementary part over an initial recording. For live performances, it is preferable to have two pianists playing the piece on two pianos, rather than the piano solo version which is made possible with some cuts.
