Benjamin Britten's Welcome Ode was his last completed work, written for young people's SA(T)B mixed voices chorus and orchestra. It is in five short sections: March, Roundel and Canon for orchestra and choir, and Jig and Modulation for orchestra alone. This edition contains a piano reduction of the orchestral score.
This piece is a kind of Purcellian Ode in celebration of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. It is a sparkling, joyous work in five movements, rewarding and fun to perform.
