Contorni, written in 1970, comes from the experimental period of Pál Károlyi (1934-2015). 'Outlines, contours' suggests the title, and accordingly the duo of bassoon and piano experience different modes of sounding the instruments, often putting extreme contrasts side by side in tempo and dynamics.
